Furthermore, in plants where leather hides are purchased from outside sources, the use of a planimeter is almost a must to keep material vendors honest. One important feature inherent in all instruments suitable for this particular application is a very large measuring range and a design concept, where the measuring wheel is not contacting the measuring surface (hide, pattern, etc). This fact prohibits the use of standard polar or roller type planimeters and necessitates the use of a specialized instrument. Tracing around the pattern with a stylus is all that is required to measure its area directly in sq. in. or sq.cm. Lasico Model 1262T Textile Rolling Disk Planimeters

Model 1262T Textile Planimeter The 1262T is a slightly modified version of our standard 1262 Rolling Disk Planimeter . It is equipped with a special stylus to facilitate easy tracing. You simply guide it around the periphery while leaning it against the edge of the pattern or hide. And since the measuring wheel does not come in contact with the measuring surface, the instrument can travel right across the object to be measured.

The maximum Measuring Range of this instrument is 45"/ 114 cm in width and limited in stretch by the length of the cable between planimeter and processor. (= 9ft, but can be extended) The Measuring Resolution depends on the arm extension and is better than 0.02 sq.in / 0.12 sq.cm at full range. Since all Lasico Processors are "self scaling ", results can be expressed in sq.in / sq.cm or any other measuring unit desired. Instrumental Accuracy is +/- 0.2%. Model 1260T must be used in conjunction with an SM2, M, XM or M2 processor.
