SERIES 1281
AREA / LINE METERS

Made in USA

Model Series 1281 Area / Line Meters

For measurement of areas, lengths, volumes, angles and for counting items.

With optional digitizer upgrade kit, its expanded capabilities also include,
determination of coordinates, centroids and the first moment of area .

The Series 1281 is a scaled down version of our popular 1282 Arm Digitizer but primarily
conceived as a

Planimeter and Length Measuring Tool.

The principal advantage is a considerably
lower cost for users not requiring digitizer features.

However it can be upgraded into a fully featured Digitizer by the user via the optional
No.1286-20 Digitizer Upgrade Kit for work with AutoCad and programs requiring
coordinate input. After the upgrade, 1281 models provide a performance level similar
to that of our Model 1282 Digitizers.

Applications for the basic 1281 models include:

Take Offs in Construction Estimating, Tax and Real Estate Appraisal, Scientific Image Analysis, Aerial Photo Interpretation, Mechanical and Civil Engineering Applications, etc.

Wherever areas and lengths of either regular or irregular shape have to be measured from blueprints, drawings, photographs, etc. the Model Series 1281 offers outstanding versatility , precision and range.

The 1281 is a stand alone system and does not require a computer or software to function. There is no need to learn any programs. Just enter your scale ratio and start your measurements. The finished scale compensated results are subsequently displayed on a large LCD panel.

If you want to transmit measuring results to a computer, 1281 models are readily equipped with interface circuitry for work with PC's and Macintosh Computers. Just add an interface cable.

How do 1281 Models compare with conventional planimeters?

Conventional mechanical or electronic wheel type planimeters with the notable exception of Lasico's Rolling Disk Models, feature very limited resolution levels, making them very marginal or even unusable for evaluation of very small areas (smaller in size than 1 sq.in / 6.5 sq.cm on paper ). In addition, their measuring range and accuracy level is far too limited for many applications. By contrast, Model 1281 can evaluate both very large and very small areas with outstanding precision.

The 1281 model also excels in operating convenience. Since the arms are partially suspended from the base, its cursor glides more smoothly with very little friction over the measuring surface, with all controls right at the operator's finger tips.

Most electronic planimeters are not suitable for left handers since the display would be positioned upside down. With 1281 models, results are shown on a large display panel equally visible for both right or left hand operators.

Unlike conventional planimeters, 1281 models can measure areas from any material. Glossy photographs, mutilated plans, areas marked on wood or metal etc. present no problems.
