The M2, the Optimal Processor for Filar Eyepiece Use

The development of this processor was strongly biased towards the Filar Application.
Suggestions and recommendations collected during the long life cycle of the older M/XM processors were incorporated in its design and all known shortcomings eliminated.

The Advantages are:

The M2 Processor can be preprogrammed for 5 different microscope objectives. (7 if the Constant and Metric conversion function is also utilized)

A simplified Calibration Procedure:

1. Select one of the scalers (1-5) to be programmed and the objective to be used.

2. Place a stage micrometer or a specimen of known length onto the microscope stage.

3. Move the filar reticle to the beginning of the measuring distance and clear the display.

4. Now move the reticle to the end of the measuring distance

5. Use you keypad and press 2ND CALIB , then key in the known distance and press ENT

6. The selected scaler is now programmed and all measurements are performed with automatic scale compensation.

Other notable features of importance for Filar Use include:

Automatic averaging : Simply press END after a measurement. Subsequently the display is cleared automatically and you are ready for the next measurement. After multiple measurements, press 2ND AVE and find the average on display. Results are absolute, i.e. despite the fact that you measure from left to right and vice versa while averaging, averaged results are always positive.

A universal computer interface with Drivers for IBM Compatibles, Macintosh Computers, Mini / Mainframe systems is readily incorporated. Example: Want to drop measuring results into a spreadsheet ? Simply connect your M2/XM2 to the PC or Mac via an optional cable and press the TX A button of your keypad to transmit the data . No complex software drivers are needed and most importantly, no computer expertise to make it work.

If you need results in both micro-inches and microns, simply use the metric switch to have both at your fingertips

Important for Quality Control Applications. The attachable keypad can be removed after the processor was programmed, thus preventing accidental changes to the instrument calibration.

Long Life Batteries protect installed scale factors, decimal settings, interface parameters, etc.
